Ethereum Sepolia Testnet Expands Gas Limit to 200 Million Under Glamsterdam

The Sepolia test network has implemented the Glamsterdam upgrade, raising its block gas capacity to nearly 200 million while Ethereum mainnet remains unchanged at 60 million.

Ethereum's Sepolia testnet activated the Glamsterdam upgrade on October 6 at epoch 353,024, expanding its block gas limit to nearly 200 million. The adjustment provides more than three times the computing capacity allowed on the Ethereum main network, which currently maintains a 60 million gas limit.

Early testnet activity showed moderate utilization of the expanded block space. An Etherscan snapshot of 25 consecutive blocks on October 8 revealed gas consumption ranging between 47.1 million and 85.9 million, utilizing between 24% and 43% of the new maximum capacity. Increasing block limits is intended to reduce network congestion and prevent fee spikes during periods of elevated transaction volume.

Raising gas parameters requires careful consideration of validator performance, as Ethereum Foundation researchers have previously warned that oversized blocks can hinder block propagation across nodes. The testnet change does not currently schedule a mainnet rollout or set a timeline for the Hoodi testnet, leaving the standard 60 million limit established during the December 2025 Fusaka upgrade in place for the main network.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
