SEC Clears First 3x Leveraged Ethereum and Bitcoin ETFs for Cboe BZX
The SEC has approved triple-leveraged Ether and Bitcoin funds from Volatility Shares, which will use daily rebalancing futures contracts.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 2, 2026, approved triple-leveraged Ethereum and Bitcoin funds from issuer Volatility Shares to list on the Cboe BZX exchange. The regulatory package also included 3x funds for commodities such as gold, silver, crude oil, and natural gas. Trading awaits the finalisation of registration statements, with formal start dates still unannounced.
The Ethereum product, designated under the ticker ETHK, and the Bitcoin fund, BITH, will track futures contracts rather than spot holdings. Volatility Shares previously issued the 2x Bitcoin fund BITX, whereas other issuers such as GraniteShares faced procedural delays when seeking approval for 3x XRP products earlier in the year.
The funds reset their leverage targets at the close of every trading day to match three times single-day market movements. Because exposure is recalculated daily on adjusted capital bases, prolonged holding periods in volatile or sideways markets can produce performance divergence and compounding decay compared to the underlying cryptoassets.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
