Bitcoin path to $100K hinges on Fed policy and institutional demand
Charles Edwards of Capriole Investments identifies U.S. monetary policy, Federal Reserve decisions and institutional buying as key factors determining Bitcoin's next major move.
Bitcoin recovered from a recent $5 billion short squeeze, but its next significant move depends on several macroeconomic factors, according to Charles Edwards, founder of Capriole Investments. Edwards sees the $70,000 level as critical support that Bitcoin must maintain for a bullish outlook to persist, with $71,000 as the next key confirmation level and $60,000 as major underlying support.
Institutional adoption continues to provide underlying strength, with institutions reportedly purchasing around 160 percent of daily Bitcoin mining output, largely through spot exchange-traded funds. However, the Federal Reserve's stance looms as a primary influence, with market pricing currently suggesting at least one additional rate hike remains likely this year. This outlook could shift based on inflation data, oil prices and geopolitical developments such as the Iran conflict.
Edwards envisions Bitcoin potentially reaching the $90,000 range and possibly $100,000, though he does not anticipate a clear new all-time high without a fresh catalyst. Such catalysts could include official U.S. government Bitcoin purchases through the Treasury General Account or a comprehensive two-year plan from developers to address quantum computing risks. Edwards notes that even progress on quantum protection could stimulate prices by removing a long-term concern.
Regarding alternative cryptocurrencies, Edwards highlights Hyperliquid's HYPE token for its tokenomics, revenue growth and daily buybacks, along with Ethereum, Ethena and Zcash as fitting the broader setup. However, he cautions against treating the altcoin market like previous cycles from 2017 and 2020, citing concerns around artificial intelligence-driven hacks, quantum vulnerabilities and DeFi risks. He favours projects with strong token economics and genuine revenue over those facing significant unlock pressure.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
