Solana mainnet upgrade expands transaction size limit to 4,096 bytes
Solana has deployed a network update on mainnet that more than triples maximum transaction capacity to support complex cryptographic workloads.
The Solana network activated a mainnet upgrade at epoch 1,035, increasing the maximum transaction size limit from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. The change went live on Tuesday at roughly 1:00 am UTC, according to data from the Solana Foundation.
The expansion is intended to provide developers with capacity to execute more intricate operations within a single transaction. According to a foundation representative, the added space accommodates workloads such as zero-knowledge proofs, multi-signature transactions, and novel on-chain signature schemes that previously exceeded transaction size constraints.
The deployment introduces a new v1 transaction format that maintains backward compatibility with legacy operations. Existing wallets and decentralized applications continue to function without disruption, though protocols seeking to leverage the larger byte limit must upgrade to the v1 specification.
This update follows earlier performance and tokenomic adjustments on the network. Solana lowered its slot time from 400 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds in August, with targeted plans to reach 200 milliseconds, while validators previously approved a measure on August 28 doubling the annual disinflation rate of SOL issuance.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
