Metaplanet Liquidates 10,000 Bitcoin Before Rebuying 11,000 in Strategic Balance Sheet Test
Japanese firm Metaplanet sold and repurchased large Bitcoin reserves in the third quarter to demonstrate the liquidity of its corporate treasury.
Tokyo-listed firm Metaplanet disclosed that it sold 10,000 Bitcoin for approximately ¥124.7 billion ($790 million) during the third quarter before acquiring 11,000 BTC for roughly ¥149.9 billion ($950 million). The transactions resulted in a net addition of 1,000 BTC, bringing the company's total treasury reserves to 44,000 BTC by the end of the quarter.
The company stated that the operation was executed to prove that its large digital asset holdings could be converted into substantial liquidity on demand without destabilizing its corporate structure. Proceeds from the initial sale surpassed the outstanding principal of Metaplanet's bonds, interest-bearing loans, and other financial liabilities, illustrating that its crypto reserves could fully cover its debt obligations.
Alongside the trading activity, Metaplanet revealed an updated capital allocation strategy that earmarks 10% to 15% of its balance sheet for income-generating strategic investments outside Bitcoin. The firm emphasized that this reallocation does not signal a departure from its core Bitcoin accumulation model, but rather establishes operational flexibility for managing corporate liquidity.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
