Solana posts 10th consecutive monthly loss as network fundamentals strengthen
SOL has fallen for ten consecutive months, yet on-chain metrics have improved following a network upgrade that enhanced throughput and reduced fees.
Solana closed July down 1.1%, marking its tenth consecutive monthly loss since an October breakdown. Holders who bought near the $250 cycle top remain significantly underwater, with the $60 region emerging as an increasingly critical support level.
Despite price weakness, on-chain fundamentals have strengthened. Solana activated the SIMD-0286 upgrade on July 29, raising the compute limit from 60 to 100 million units, allowing the network to handle demand spikes without compromising activity. The upgrade also reduced fee pressure: the 90th percentile transaction fee fell 30% from 29,800 to 20,800 lamports following activation, indicating improved throughput and capital efficiency. Transaction volume reached 8.7 billion in July, the highest monthly count in four months.
According to analyst commentary, SOL is forming a breakout-and-retest structure historically associated with strong rallies. In 2021, a similar pattern preceded a 2,500% move, while 2023 saw a 3,600% rally from comparable positioning. The SOL/BTC pair continues trading below 0.002, and a decisive breakout could signal a broader trend reversal. August and September historically represent Bitcoin's weakest months, which typically increases the likelihood of capital rotating into higher-beta altcoins.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
