Quant and Chainlink Take Distinct Architectural Approaches to Bank Blockchain Interoperability

Quant and Chainlink are both developing solutions for institutional banks seeking multi-network blockchain integration, but the two projects address the challenge through fundamentally different architectures. Quant utilizes an abstraction layer known as Overledger, which handles underlying network selection directly so bank applications only interface with a single layer. In contrast, Chainlink offers the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), which establishes a standardized messaging format where cross-network transfers are validated across independent groups.

The architectural divergence affects operational trust requirements and the practical utility of each project's native token. Under Chainlink's design, institutions interact closer to individual blockchains while adhering to uniform transaction formats. Quant's approach abstracts underlying chains entirely, categorizing network destinations as configurable settings.

Quant reports that its Fusion Rollup—which it describes as a Layer 2.5 mechanism writing states across multiple networks—has connected 74 blockchains since launching on mainnet on June 2, 2026. However, the report notes that the 74-network figure is self-reported and that mainnet connectivity does not automatically confirm active production deployment by financial institutions.
