Binance Faces Renewed Federal Inquiry Over Iranian Sanctions
U.S. prosecutors are investigating whether Binance allowed Iranian funds to move through its platform, nearly three years after its $4.3 billion settlement.
Federal prosecutors in the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office, assisted by the Justice Department's criminal division, are probing whether Binance knowingly permitted transactions tied to Iran. The inquiry comes nearly three years after the exchange entered a guilty plea for sanctions breaches and paid $4.3 billion in penalties. No criminal charges have been filed against the company, and Binance has denied any wrongdoing.
The investigation follows a September 14, 2026, civil forfeiture action by the same office to seize $61 million in USDT from 10 digital wallets. According to prosecutors, two Chinese entities named Blessed Trust and Hexa Whale used accounts on Binance to transfer revenue from sanctioned Iranian oil sales across a network handling more than $1.5 billion. Binance is not named as a defendant in that forfeiture filing.
Binance stated that it removed Blessed Trust from its platform in January 2026 following an internal review into the origin of the funds. The company's analysis found that roughly $126 million made its way to Iran-linked wallets across multi-hop transactions, including up to $24 million tied to the Revolutionary Guard. Binance noted that no direct trades with Iranian entities were found, highlighting that over 1,500 of its employees work in compliance. Amid the reports, BNB traded at $775 on September 24, up 7% on the week.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
