Input Output Group Warns of Hijacked YouTube Channel Promoting Fake Giveaway
Cardano developer IOG urged the public to avoid its official YouTube account after attackers broadcast an unauthorized AI deepfake stream.
Input Output Group (IOG), the research and engineering organization behind the Cardano network, issued a warning advising users to avoid its official YouTube channel following a security compromise.
The hijacked account hosted a livestream spanning nearly two hours that was disguised as a Project Catalyst town hall meeting. The broadcast featured an artificial-intelligence-manipulated video of Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson directing viewers to a QR code and falsely promising to double their funds.
IOG posted an alert on its official X account instructing users not to interact with the compromised YouTube page, click any links, send funds, or disclose personal information until further notice.
