Bitcoin ETF Inflows Held Steady Through Drawdown as Equity Markets Gained
Retirement investors maintained their spot Bitcoin ETF holdings during a 54% market drop even as the S&P 500 advanced over 15% during the same timeframe.
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas reported that spot Bitcoin ETF investors demonstrated significant resilience during a steep market downturn, with lifetime cumulative net flows remaining at $55 billion. While below the previous $63 billion peak, cumulative flows rebounded from a low of $50 billion despite a prolonged price decline.
Bitcoin dropped roughly 54% from its October 2025 high of $126,296 to a July 2026 low of $57,717, remaining down 34.4% year-over-year at around $76,850. Listed proxy MicroStrategy fell 60.5% over the same period to $132. Over that identical period, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) gained 15.5%, rising 11.8% year-to-date to $762, driven largely by mega-cap technology companies led by Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft.
Macroeconomic conditions have introduced additional crosscurrents for both asset classes. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield touched 5% on September 15, 2026, climbing from 3.97% in February, while the Federal Reserve lifted the upper bound of the federal funds rate to 4% on September 17. The persistence of elevated discount rates poses ongoing valuation pressures for interest-rate-sensitive assets across public markets.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
