Luke Dashjr removed as Bitcoin Improvement Proposal editor
Bitcoin developer Luke Dashjr has lost his BIP editor privileges following a dispute over his handling of proposal BIP 110.
Mark Erhardt opened a pull request on Sunday to remove Dashjr after raising concerns on the Bitcoin Developer mailing list. Erhardt alleged that Dashjr, who was heavily involved in creating BIP 110, had unfairly favored the proposal while serving as editor—including attempting to assign it a BIP number before mailing-list discussion and quickly merging updates to it.
Jon Atack verified that Dashjr no longer held editor or administrator privileges in the BIPs repository and merged the removal pull request. Dashjr responded by characterizing the action as an abuse of power by Core developers who had no authority to remove him.
BIP 110 sought to temporarily restrict arbitrary data embedded in Bitcoin transactions. The proposal triggered a minority chain split after nodes enforcing it rejected blocks from miners that did not signal support, though the fork stalled with minimal hashpower backing.
