Ethereum L1 and Base Part Ways on Diverging Account Abstraction Proposals

A collaborative effort to establish a unified account abstraction standard between Ethereum L1 and Base has ended due to differing technical priorities.

· -3

Ethereum L1 and layer-2 network Base have discontinued their joint initiative to develop a shared account abstraction standard. Ethlabs researcher Derek Chiang confirmed that the two ecosystems will now pursue independent frameworks, with EIP-8130 and EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions) progressing separately.

Talks collapsed after weeks of technical reviews failed to produce an acceptable compromise. The split stems from fundamental differences in network priorities: Ethereum L1 focuses on censorship resistance, user privacy, and settlement layer security, whereas Base emphasizes scalability, configurability, and commercial compliance features.

While both networks continue to pursue capabilities such as gasless transactions and passkey-enabled wallets, the divergence means application developers and wallet providers must now build integrations across separate account abstraction standards.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
