Thai SEC Opens Consultations on Spot Bitcoin and Ether ETF Regulations
Thailand's securities regulator has launched public consultations detailing proposed rules for domestic spot Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds.
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand opened two public consultations on August 24 regarding the framework for domestic Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds and the rules governing foreign digital asset custodians. The consultation window remains open until September 20 as part of the regulator's three-year strategic roadmap.
Under the proposed rules, funds must maintain a minimum average net exposure of 80% to the underlying cryptocurrency over the accounting year. Trading would be restricted to passive strategies on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, with eligibility limited strictly to Bitcoin and Ether during the initial phase due to liquidity requirements.
Asset management firms will also need to demonstrate adequate personnel and operational systems prior to launching products. The latest consultations build on initial proposals presented in April, with ongoing regulatory discussions focusing on foreign custody requirements and dedicated market maker arrangements.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
