Ripple receives EU MiCA license, boosting XRP Ledger adoption
Ripple Labs has obtained a full Crypto Asset Service Provider license from Luxembourg, enabling European institutions to access its cross-border payment platform.
Ripple received its Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license from Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF), allowing institutions across the European Economic Area to collect, exchange and pay out via Ripple Payments in a single regulated relationship.
The licensing development follows the company's recent product launches, including Ripple Mint, a platform for institutional investors to manage Ripple USD (RLUSD), alongside the XRPL Lending protocol and XRP Ledger AI Starter Kit. Regulatory clarity is expected to drive further adoption of the XRP Ledger network.
XRP Ledger's growth is evident in its metrics. The network's tokenization has been fuelled by more than 60,000 stablecoin holders and over $4 billion in represented asset value. Active XRPL addresses have risen from around 7.92 million on January 1 to roughly 8.48 million as of early August, reaching a new all-time high. Transaction activity has also accelerated, with the network's total transaction count surging to 2.18 million on one day in early August, up from 977,951 on August 1 and the highest level since June 5.
Ripple now holds more than 70 regulatory licenses globally, positioning the XRP Ledger network to attract further mainstream adoption.
