Security Breaches Affect Liquid Sidechain, Symbiosis Bridge, and Revolut Customer Records

Three separate security incidents within a week resulted in stolen Bitcoin, minted bridge tokens, and compromised user transaction data.

A sequence of three separate security breaches occurred over a single week, affecting different segments of Bitcoin-related infrastructure. On September 6, an attacker exploited a bug in the Elements range-proof cache on Blockstream's Liquid sidechain, minting unbacked L-BTC and withdrawing nearly 4,000 BTC worth around $320 million. While 3,400 BTC was returned following a bridge patch, the attacker demanded a bounty on the remaining 598.5 BTC, leaving roughly $47 million unrecovered after Blockstream refused the terms. The underlying code patch had been public on GitHub five days prior but was not deployed.

On September 11, cross-chain protocol Symbiosis suffered an exploit on its BridgeV2 contract, where an attacker generated approximately 46.1 billion unbacked syBTC. The exploiter swapped 4.39 WBTC on Uniswap for about $336,000 before trading was caught. Symbiosis subsequently recovered 15 BTC, offered a 20% bounty, and suspended its Bitcoin bridge operations.

A third incident involved digital bank Revolut, which disclosed on September 12 that attackers used a fraudulent law-enforcement portal to obtain sensitive customer files. The compromised data included passports, photos, IBANs, and complete Bitcoin transaction records for high-net-worth users. While client balances were not drained, the exposure of transaction histories creates targeted phishing risks for affected account holders.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
