BIP-110 Bitcoin Fork Controls Just 0.15% of Network Hashpower
The BIP-110 fork has secured minimal mining support, with 99.85% of Bitcoin's hashpower remaining on the original chain.
The BIP-110 fork emerged after developers proposed temporary limits on non-financial data embedded in Bitcoin transactions. According to Strategy chairman Michael Saylor, the split demonstrated how Bitcoin functions as designed: the network was free not to follow the proposed change, and miners overwhelmingly chose to remain on the original chain.
The minority branch has captured only 0.15% of Bitcoin's total hashpower and has mined just two blocks, trailing the primary chain by more than 80 blocks. This imbalance reflects where miners place their trust and highlights how little support the fork has gathered since its launch.
The gap between chains also illustrates a fundamental constraint facing the BIP-110 branch. At its current hashpower level, the fork must mine 2,015 additional blocks before reaching its first difficulty adjustment—a process that would take approximately 25 years to complete at today's rate. This stands in sharp contrast to Bitcoin's standard two-week adjustment cycle. Saylor noted that while anyone can fork Bitcoin, forks lack automatic legitimacy without broader network backing.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
