Fear Language Dominates Crypto Social Channels, Santiment Reports

Discussion of cryptocurrency being "dead" is intensifying on X, Reddit, Telegram and other channels, according to analytics firm Santiment Intelligence. Words including dead, dying, over, ended and finished are gaining prominence in these spaces.

Santiment characterises this as fear language that typically emerges when retail investors lose patience, prices stall, and market weakness gets interpreted as permanent decline. Historically, the firm's data suggests such surges in fearful language on social media have preceded gains for long-term Bitcoin holders.

The analytics firm notes that crypto markets often perform strongest when sentiment turns decidedly pessimistic. When "crypto is dead" narratives spread while Bitcoin maintains critical support levels, accounts with staying power tend to accumulate while forced sellers exit, potentially setting up conditions favourable for patient buyers.

Separately, Santiment reports extreme negativity toward XRP as the token's price remains around $1. Crowd sentiment across social channels has reached a three-month bearish extreme. However, on-chain activity paints a different picture: XRP recorded 49,929 active addresses in a 24-hour period, its highest level in over two months. Santiment suggests this divergence between negative sentiment and rising participation could signal opportunity if the asset stabilises.
