MicroStrategy sells $109m in Bitcoin in second consecutive week
The corporate treasury firm liquidated 1,690 BTC under its new monetization program, following a $105 million sale the week prior.
MicroStrategy sold 1,690 BTC worth $109 million over the past week, continuing a pattern established seven days earlier when it offloaded 1,638 BTC for $105 million. The sales came after three weeks during which the firm bought or sold no Bitcoin.
Chairman Michael Saylor announced Monday that the firm had increased its US dollar reserves by $650 million during the week and used $109 million to repurchase STRC, the company's perpetual preferred stock, which carries a 12% annual dividend and currently trades at $94.48 despite a par value around $100.
The sales occur under a newly introduced Bitcoin monetization program designed to strengthen cash reserves and fund dividend payments. MicroStrategy, which holds more corporate Bitcoin than any other publicly listed company, adopted Bitcoin as its sole treasury reserve asset in 2020.
The liquidations mark a notable shift from Saylor's long-standing public messaging. The executive previously urged investors to "never sell" their Bitcoin but now characterizes that stance as personal advice to individual savers rather than corporate policy. He emphasised that MicroStrategy has disclosed since 2020 that it may buy or sell Bitcoin for capital management purposes.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
