Bitcoin Stabilises Near $80,000 Following Volatility Triggered by US Jobs Data
Bitcoin held close to $80,000 after an initial surge to $82,240 was erased by stronger-than-expected US employment figures.
Bitcoin traded at $79,985, up 0.36% over 24 hours and roughly 2.5% on the week, holding a market capitalisation of $1.6 trillion with daily volume near $19.8 billion. Despite rebounding roughly 37% from its June low, the asset remains down 8.6% year-to-date in 2026.
Macroeconomic data drove sharp fluctuations throughout the week. Following softer-than-expected ADP private payrolls of 38,000 against a 47,000 estimate, Bitcoin broke above $80,000 and liquidated roughly $93 million in short positions, reaching a high of $82,240 on Friday. However, the official nonfarm payrolls report showed an addition of 162,000 jobs compared to a 56,000 consensus, while unemployment remained at 4.1% and previous months were revised up by 55,000 positions.
The robust labor print pushed CME FedWatch expectations for a 25 basis point September interest rate hike from 49.4% to 58%, sending the 10-year Treasury yield to 4.73% and dragging Bitcoin down to $78,600 within minutes.
Institutional capital flows provided counterbalancing support. US spot Bitcoin ETFs registered $730.8 million in net inflows on September 3, led by BlackRock's IBIT with $454 million, followed by an additional $174.6 million during the Friday selloff. This brought three-day net inflows to roughly $1.01 billion, offsetting part of the $4.83 billion in net outflows recorded across 2026.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
