XRP slides to $1.45 as leveraged long positions unwind amid heavy liquidations

XRP has retreated from its $1.70 peak after heavy derivatives positioning turned crowded, with large liquidations accelerating selling pressure.

XRP has fallen to around $1.41 after reaching nearly $1.50 on August 25, pulling back from last week's $1.70 high despite maintaining gains of more than 27% over seven days. The selloff follows a rapid ascent from approximately $1.00 in mid-August that attracted heavy leveraged exposure.

Leverage on Binance has reached its highest level since January, with an estimated leverage ratio of roughly 0.21 this week, according to CryptoQuant. Futures open interest stands at approximately $3.45 billion, while 24-hour futures volume reached around $6.4 billion, more than five times the roughly $1.2 billion recorded in spot trading. The imbalance in positioning has been extreme, with roughly two long accounts for every short account on Binance, and the ratio among top traders approaching three to one. OKX recorded a similar two-to-one long-to-short imbalance.

As XRP moved lower, crowded long positions began unwinding, with approximately $18.9 million in positions liquidated over 24 hours. Spot ETF inflows remained positive at $28.14 million on August 26, with cumulative flows reaching approximately $1.62 billion, providing some stabilizing demand. The key technical support level sits at $1.35, with $1.30 to $1.25 viewed as a potential target if the breakdown accelerates.

Site call on XRP Buy score 56.5

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
