SpaceX reports $540 million loss on Bitcoin holdings
The space company's Bitcoin trove declined by nearly a third in the first half of 2026, though it remains significantly ahead on its total investment.
SpaceX disclosed a loss of $539 million on its Bitcoin position during the first half of 2026, with holdings falling from $1.637 billion at the end of 2025 to $1.098 billion by June 30, 2026. The company held 18,712 Bitcoin units with a cost basis of $661 million across the two periods.
The decline mirrored broader Bitcoin price movement, which fell 33 percent over the same interval, opening 2026 at roughly $88,341 and closing June at $58,533.
Despite the interim loss, SpaceX maintained an all-time net unrealized profit of $437 million on its Bitcoin holdings, representing a 66.1 percent gain since acquisition. The company had reduced its Bitcoin stake from 25,725 units to 8,285 units by the time of its June IPO filing.
According to BitcoinTreasuries data, SpaceX ranked eighth among publicly traded companies by Bitcoin holdings, exceeding positions held by Coinbase Global, Tesla, and Trump Media & Technology Group.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
