Trezor and BitBox issue warnings over phishing emails following email provider breaches

Hardware wallet manufacturers have cautioned users against fraudulent security notices sent after third-party communication services were compromised.

Hardware wallet manufacturers Trezor and BitBox have alerted customers to phishing campaigns disguised as urgent security notices. The fraudulent communications followed suspected security breaches at third-party email and newsletter service providers.

Trezor confirmed a breach at its email provider and warned recipients that a message titled "Critical Security Alert: STM32 Entropy Vulnerability" was fraudulent, advising users not to click any links. The warning follows prior disclosures, including an August incident at shipping partner ShipMonk that exposed data from nearly 14,000 customers, and a September report affecting roughly 67,000 U.S. users.

BitBox separately notified users of a phishing email impersonating the firm, stating that a preliminary review pointed to a compromise at its newsletter vendor. The company noted that multiple Bitcoin-related businesses using the shared provider appeared to have been targeted.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
