Bitcoin ETFs face outflows while altcoin funds attract capital inflows
Spot Bitcoin ETFs suffered net withdrawals last week while Ethereum and smaller-cap cryptocurrency funds drew fresh investor money.
Bitcoin ETFs experienced significant outflows during the latest week, with spot Bitcoin funds seeing $326.7 million in withdrawals against $265.2 million in inflows. BlackRock's IBIT recorded the largest single drawdown at $186.3 million, continuing a pattern of July weakness that followed early-month gains.
Ethereum ETFs demonstrated greater resilience, capturing $27.42 million in inflows despite one day of $32.9 million outflows. BlackRock's ETHA saw the strongest performance with $36.6 million in inflows. Beyond Ethereum, Solana ETFs attracted $2.82 million in weekly flows, XRP ETFs drew $14.85 million, and the HYPE ETF received $14.75 million. The Dogecoin ETF experienced flat flows.
Analysis suggests smaller-cap cryptocurrency funds are gaining outsized importance relative to their absolute capital intake. Because inflows into lower-market-cap assets represent a larger percentage of their total value, they produce greater price-impact effects than comparable Bitcoin or Ethereum flows. The altcoin index reached 53, marking an entry into altcoin season and explaining why Bitcoin ETFs have lost momentum to capital rotation.
Price action aligned differently between asset classes. Bitcoin dropped over 4% during the week, falling from around $64,000 to $62,556.58, with price movements driving ETF flows. Altcoins showed similar price declines yet continued attracting inflows—indicating investor accumulation despite weakness. This divergence occurred as the 30-year US Treasury yield spiked to 5.234%, its highest point since 2007, before settling at 5.185%, while the Federal Reserve held rates steady at 3.50–3.75%.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
