Ethereum Mainnet Token Approval Revocations Drop to Around Half a Cent
Lower transaction fees on Ethereum have reduced the cost of revoking outstanding ERC-20 smart contract allowances to approximately 0.52 cents.
Revoking smart contract token approvals on the Ethereum mainnet cost approximately 0.52 cents on September 14, 2026. Lower network transaction fees have significantly reduced the cost of managing lingering permissions across decentralized finance applications.
Token approvals, or allowances, are a core component of the ERC-20 standard established in 2015. They permit external smart contracts to withdraw a specified quantity of tokens from a user's wallet via the transferFrom function following an initial approve transaction.
Under the standard, allowances do not expire automatically upon completion of a transaction and frequently default to the maximum possible uint256 limit. Consequently, open permissions remain active indefinitely until the wallet owner manually submits a transaction to revoke them.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
