According to his country-level model, total global adoption sits between 4.5% and 6%, representing an estimated 370 million to 500 million holders worldwide.
India ranked first in total holders in Woo's dataset with an estimated 68 million owners, corresponding to a 4.6% national ownership rate. The United States followed with approximately 50 million holders, while China was estimated at 33 million. In contrast, Vietnam showed a higher adoption rate of 17%, but its smaller population resulted in an estimated 17 million holders.
The report highlighted that these figures represent projections and historical data compilations rather than exact counts of unique users. Woo noted that Bitcoin's estimated penetration falls into a range similar to his estimates for gold and the S&P 500, though based on differing datasets. The estimates surfaced as Indian authorities continue reviewing their digital asset framework following the postponement of a parliamentary hearing on the matter.
