Trump Media to overhaul crypto treasury strategy after Q2 losses
Trump Media said it will adopt a more disciplined approach to its digital asset holdings after unrealized losses totalled $190.4 million in the second quarter.
Trump Media announced plans to revamp its digital asset treasury strategy following a net loss of $238 million in Q2, driven largely by unrealized losses on crypto and equity securities. The company said the new framework aims to preserve long-term digital asset exposure while managing volatility and improving balance-sheet productivity.
As of June 30, Trump Media held 9,477.16 Bitcoin, with an additional 2,077.34 BTC pledged as collateral for its options strategy and 4,260.73 BTC serving as collateral for convertible notes. The company is already using options to manage Bitcoin volatility and generate premium income, while deploying some holdings through lending and yield-generating arrangements.
Trump Media said it plans to direct more capital toward Truth Social, Truth+ and its broader media business as part of a shift in capital allocation. In July, the company sold $159.6 million in Bitcoin-related securities and used proceeds to purchase Bitcoin, bringing its total holdings to approximately 14,139 BTC by July 31, worth around $890.5 million at that time.
