MicroStrategy sells 1,690 Bitcoin to fund share buyback programme

MicroStrategy, which holds the largest corporate Bitcoin treasury, sold 1,690 BTC for $108.6 million between August 3 and 9 to fund a buyback of 1.15 million shares of its STRC preferred stock, according to a regulatory filing. The sale marked the company's second consecutive week of Bitcoin liquidations for this purpose and its fourth disclosed sale in 2026.

The Bitcoin sold at an average net price of $64,262 per coin, while MicroStrategy's remaining 840,447 BTC holdings carry an average purchase price of $75,385 per unit. Year-to-date Bitcoin sales total 6,948 BTC. In parallel, the company's US dollar reserve grew to $4.65 billion, with $650 million coming from recent common stock sales.

MicroStrategy said $785.2 million remains available under its preferred stock repurchase programme and another $1 billion under its common stock buyback authorisation. STRC preferred shares have rallied 24 percent from June lows during the recent buyback period, closing Friday at $95.
