Metaplanet Executes $950 Million Bitcoin Rebuy Following $790 Million Treasury Sale

In the third quarter of 2026, Tokyo-listed firm Metaplanet offloaded 10,000 Bitcoin for approximately $790 million before purchasing 11,000 Bitcoin shortly afterward for $950 million. The dual transactions increased the company's total balance by 1,000 coins while reducing its cash reserves by roughly $160 million.

Metaplanet framed the rapid round trip as a practical demonstration of liquidity, showing its ability to liquidate a significant portion of its reserves on the open market. The initial sale accounted for roughly one quarter of the 43,000 Bitcoin held by the corporate treasury in July.

The mechanics of the execution show that Metaplanet sold at an average price of about $79,000 per coin and repurchased at roughly $86,400 per coin. While approximately $79 million of the total $160 million cash difference went toward acquiring the additional 1,000 Bitcoin, the remaining $81 million covered the price appreciation between the sale and the subsequent repurchase.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
