Historical Data Shows XRP Took Seven Years to Rebound From Its 2018 Peak

Historical market records indicate that XRP took seven and a half years to complete its only full peak-to-recovery cycle. After reaching roughly $3.40 in January 2018, the token plummeted by approximately 97% to $0.11 in March 2020. The recovery was extended by the SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple starting in December 2020, which kept XRP off major US exchanges and suppressed prices below $1 for much of 2022 and 2023, before a late 2024 surge pushed the asset to a record $3.65 in July 2025.

As of September 30, 2026, XRP traded at $1.50, sitting 58.9% below that 2025 record. Reclaiming the previous peak would require a 143% price increase from current levels. Based on its circulating supply of approximately 62.9 billion tokens and a market capitalization of $94.5 billion, reaching $3.65 would require the asset's total market value to expand to roughly $230 billion.

Although XRP gained 46.9% over the preceding 90 days, it remained down 46.8% year-over-year and 17.1% year-to-date. The analysis notes that because XRP has completed only one full cycle from peak to trough to a new record across its 12-year trading history, that single precedent provides limited statistical power for predicting future recovery durations.
