Near Intents Recovers $3.8 Million in Drained Funds After 48-Hour Ultimatum to Exploiter
Near Intents has closed its investigation after recovering the full $3.8 million drained during a security incident, following a public ultimatum addressed to the perpetrator.
Cross-chain swap service Near Intents has recovered the full $3.8 million drained during a security breach on Thursday, according to general manager Alex Shevchenko, who confirmed on Friday that the team's internal investigation has ended.
The recovery followed a public message from Shevchenko stating that the attacker had been identified and providing return addresses across Bitcoin, BNB/Ethereum, and Solana. The team gave the perpetrator a 48-hour deadline to return the assets under responsible disclosure terms. An on-chain message accompanying the return transaction stated that the exploiter was in the wrong and encouraged others to use bug bounty programs.
The exploit occurred due to a vulnerability in the interaction between Near Intents' Omni deposit and withdrawal layer and its main smart contract, which led the platform to temporarily halt services and alert law enforcement. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT reported that the stolen assets had initially been routed through KuCoin and bridged to Bitcoin. Near Intents enables cross-chain swaps across 35 networks and has processed over $30 billion in transaction volume.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
