Binance Bitcoin Funding Rate Yielded 3.37 Percent Over Twelve Months
An analysis of Bitcoin perpetual funding payments showed actual returns fell well short of theoretical estimates after accounting for negative intervals and fees.
An analysis by DCY of Binance's BTCUSDT perpetual contract found that funding yields over a twelve-month period from October 2025 to September 2026 reached 3.37% of notional value, falling well below theoretical projections of approximately 11%. Across the 1,095 settlement intervals observed, the standard baseline rate of 0.01% was never exceeded.
The review highlighted that one out of every four funding distributions resulted in a negative payment, costing traders money instead of producing income. Furthermore, factoring in round-trip transaction fees of 0.10% meant that traders required an average of eleven days of continuous funding collections just to break even on trade execution costs.
Mechanism rules on major venues such as Binance and Bybit dictate that funding settles only at fixed intervals—00:00, 08:00, and 16:00 UTC—requiring positions to be active at the exact snapshot time. When settled in bitcoin, the strategy generated a 4.17% nominal return in coin terms, but a 26% decline in spot bitcoin prices resulted in a 22% net loss in dollar terms over the same period.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
