US Spot Bitcoin ETFs See Strong Inflows as BTC Remains Capped Below $80,000
Sustained institutional inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs have provided market support, yet heavy profit-taking and macroeconomic data keep prices below $80,000.
United States spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $986.9 million in net inflows last week, extending a three-week streak to roughly $3.8 billion. BlackRock’s IBIT accounted for $691.5 million of that weekly total, bringing cumulative assets across all US spot Bitcoin ETFs to approximately $101.3 billion following August inflows of $3.52 billion.
Despite continuous institutional buying, Bitcoin remained below the $80,000 mark on Monday after briefly climbing past $81,000 the previous week. Analysts at Zeus Research pointed out that ETF purchases reflect real spot demand rather than speculative leverage, but noted that ETF allocations represent only one component of broader market liquidity.
Data from Glassnode indicates that roughly 600,000 more Bitcoins are in profit near current price levels compared to May, representing approximately $47 billion in potential selling pressure. In addition, about 1.05 million BTC sit between $83,000 and $86,000, where holders nearing breakeven could offload positions. Bitfinex analysts cited an overhead supply cluster between $77,100 and $80,000, while a recent US jobs report also added macro pressure, briefly pulling prices below $79,000.
