Ethereum developers narrow 66 proposals for Hegotá privacy upgrade

FOCIL (Fork-choice enforced inclusion lists) is currently the only Ethereum Improvement Proposal formally scheduled for Hegotá. Three additional proposals—Frame Transactions (EIP-8141), Keyed Nonces (EIP-8250), and Recent Roots for Frame Transactions (EIP-8272)—are candidates for inclusion. According to an Ethereum Foundation contributor, these would collectively "unlock native privacy, allowing privacy apps to work without having to rely on intermediaries." FOCIL specifically seeks to strengthen censorship resistance by allowing a validator committee to force pending transactions into blocks, while the other proposals would provide protocol primitives for privacy-focused applications.
Core developers aim to deliver the Hegotá upgrade in 2027. The next Ethereum core developer call, scheduled for Monday at 2:00 pm UTC, is expected to shape significant portions of the network's development trajectory for that year. Proposals that do not make the cut for Hegotá may be reconsidered for future upgrades.
Before Hegotá, developers are preparing to ship Glamsterdam, slated for mainnet launch in the second half of 2026. That upgrade focuses on improving scalability, hardening the base layer, and enhancing usability.
