Sophon Sets November 25 Withdrawal Deadline Ahead of Planned Mainnet Closure

Ethereum layer-2 network Sophon has instructed users to retrieve their assets before November 25 as it prepares to shut down its blockchain infrastructure.

Sophon has announced that its key network infrastructure and associated websites will begin closing on November 25, establishing a final deadline for users to remove their holdings. The team warned that tokens left on the chain after this date risk permanent loss, advising participants to withdraw Ether, USDC, Sophon tokens, and any outstanding staking or Guardian rewards.

The closure stems from a decision first announced in June, when developers concluded that the expenses of operating a standalone network outweighed its advantages. Sophon, which previously raised $60 million in a 2024 node sale alongside a $10 million funding round, plans to pivot its focus toward consumer finance and artificial intelligence applications hosted on Base.

The shutdown follows a similar move by Abstract, an Ethereum layer-2 network backed by Pudgy Penguins' parent firm Igloo, which announced in October that it would halt operations in December after incurring tens of millions of dollars in support costs.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
