On-chain data indicates the typical 365-day Bitcoin holder is sitting on slight gains, contrasting with average losses of nearly 12% for XRP investors.

According to analytics firm Santiment, the 365-day Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) metric shows that the average Bitcoin holder over the past year is slightly in profit, while the average XRP holder is nursing an unrealized loss of roughly 11.8%. Santiment's metric tracks the gap between the current market price and the average price paid for moved tokens over a one-year window.

The divergent profitability reflects differing price performances across 2026. Bitcoin has declined by about 3% year-to-date, trading around $84,388, whereas XRP has fallen approximately 17% in 2026 and roughly 48% over the past 12 months, standing at $1.51. However, XRP's MVRV reading has rebounded from a historic low of around -47% recorded in July, when the asset traded near $1.14.

The report notes that Bitcoin's market dynamic has been bolstered by institutional demand, including approximately $1.7 billion in net inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds across September 21 and 22. Santiment also notes a structural limitation in MVRV metrics, as the indicator tracks only on-chain transactions and excludes trades settled entirely on centralized exchanges.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
