Kenya Deploys 30 Million Academic Records on Avalanche Blockchain
Kenya has placed over 30 million academic credentials on Avalanche to allow employers and universities to verify records onchain and combat certificate forgery.
Kenya has launched a blockchain-based credential verification system through the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), deploying more than 30 million academic records on the Avalanche network. The platform enables employers, universities and other institutions to authenticate academic credentials onchain, making records resistant to tampering and forgery. The initiative was announced by KNEC and Avalanche in response to the thousands of forged academic certificates reported annually in Kenya.
The verification system is now operational, though neither KNEC nor Avalanche disclosed adoption rates among students, employers or educational institutions. For Avalanche, the rollout represents one of the blockchain's largest public-sector deployments, extending its applications beyond decentralized finance into government record verification. The announcement did not clarify whether the deployment is expected to increase demand for Avalanche's native token, AVAX.
