Bitcoin Drops Below $80,000 Following Stronger-Than-Expected US Jobs Report

Bitcoin retreated from its multi-month high after US employment data exceeded estimates and altered expectations for upcoming Federal Reserve rate decisions.

Bitcoin slid approximately 2 percent to trade below 80,000 dollars on Friday, reversing earlier gains that had taken the asset to 82,240 dollars. The downturn followed the release of the August United States nonfarm payrolls report, which showed an increase of 162,000 jobs compared to a market estimate of 53,000, representing the fastest hiring pace since March.

The stronger labor data arrived after Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller indicated potential backing for holding interest rates unchanged at the September meeting. However, the hiring numbers, alongside an upward revision of July payrolls from a 23,000 loss to a 21,000 gain, lifted Treasury yields to 4.80 percent on the 10-year note and 4.40 percent on the 2-year note, increasing pressure on non-yielding assets.

Despite the macro pullback, spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded 730 million dollars in net inflows on September 3, marking their largest single-day intake since January. The previous day also saw roughly 456 million dollars in short positions liquidated across the crypto market as prices temporarily surged.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
