DATA Network Announces Migration to Sui Ecosystem Backed by $30M Investment
DATA Network will retire its standalone blockchain and integrate its AI data infrastructure into the Sui network following a multimillion-dollar commitment.
DATA Network, previously known as Story, is decommissioning its dedicated blockchain to transition its artificial intelligence training data infrastructure to Sui. The migration is supported by a $30 million investment from the Sui Foundation.
The project's Trace registry, which tracks data provenance and licensing, will move to Sui after registering more than 270 million records since June. Walrus, a decentralized storage platform within the Sui network, will serve as the default storage layer for DATA Foundation applications. A spokesperson stated that maintaining an independent blockchain for a single use case created unnecessary validator, security, and infrastructure expenses.
The existing DATA Network chain will remain active until the transition is complete, with a formal timeline and transition plan to be released ahead of the final cutover.
