Sparkasse to Launch Bank-Custodied Bitcoin Trading Across German Branches

German savings banks plan to offer direct Bitcoin holdings through DekaBank custody while retaining private key management within the banking system.

Sparkasse institutions plan to roll out a crypto service called Krypto powered by Deka starting in mid-October 2026, following internal testing in September. The service allows customers to purchase Bitcoin directly inside their bank app, with backend trading and infrastructure supported by Börse Stuttgart Digital across approximately 370 regional banks.

Under this structure, clients hold economic ownership of the underlying asset rather than a debt tracking note such as an ETN. However, the bank acts as the authorized custodian under European MiCAR regulations, meaning private keys remain in institutional storage and customers cannot withdraw tokens to external personal wallets.

Because each regional Sparkasse decides independently whether and when to activate the offering, availability will vary across districts. Investors must balance the convenience of bank-integrated custody against the absence of direct self-custody and personal key management.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
