Tesla and SpaceX Maintained 30,221 Bitcoin Balance Through Third Quarter
Tesla and SpaceX retained their entire combined Bitcoin holdings through the third quarter, with market gains bolstering Tesla's quarterly net income.
Tesla and SpaceX retained their full combined allocation of 30,221 Bitcoins through the third quarter of 2026, representing a total valuation of approximately $2.53 billion as of September 30. Neither firm announced plans to buy or sell digital assets during their recent financial disclosures.
Tesla holds 11,509 BTC, valued at $962 million at the end of the quarter following a 42% valuation increase tied to crypto market gains and $6.3 billion in quarterly spot ETF inflows. SpaceX, which listed publicly on the Nasdaq earlier in 2026, holds the remaining 18,712 BTC, valued at roughly $1.57 billion compared to $1.1 billion at the end of June.
Accounting standards require mark-to-market revaluations of digital assets, leading Tesla to post an unrealized Bitcoin gain of approximately $290 million for the quarter. Tesla Chief Financial Officer Vaibhav Taneja noted that this gain helped offset a $142 million mark-to-market reduction in the company's SpaceX holding.
The paper gain on Bitcoin represented more than one-third of Tesla's $787 million in quarterly net income, which fell 42.7% year-over-year. While Tesla's $962 million Bitcoin position accounts for roughly 2% of its $45.4 billion cash reserves and 0.06% of its $1.53 trillion market capitalization, crypto price fluctuations continue to create notable swings in its net income figures.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
