Ethereum Developers Schedule EIP-8141 to Enable Stablecoin Gas Fees

A newly scheduled draft proposal for Ethereum's 2027 Hegotá upgrade aims to let users pay transaction fees using stablecoins instead of ETH.

· 0

Ethereum core developers have placed EIP-8141, known as Frame Transactions, on the schedule for the planned Hegotá network upgrade in 2027. Co-authored by Vitalik Buterin and nine other contributors, the proposal restructures transactions by separating signature verification, fee payments, and execution into distinct contract calls.

By isolating the fee frame, the upgrade would allow network users to settle gas charges in stablecoins rather than ETH without relying on third-party intermediaries. The specification also outlines functionality for sponsored gas, multi-action batching, and key rotation.

Although the proposal advanced to the scheduled phase on August 27, 2026, the specification remains in draft status without deployed code. Full implementation will still require client software development, testnet validation, and wallet ecosystem integration before any mainnet release.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
