MetaMask launches self-custodial wallet for autonomous AI trading
MetaMask's new Agent Wallet enables AI agents to execute on-chain trades while respecting user-defined spending limits and risk parameters across multiple networks.
MetaMask launched Agent Wallet, a self-custodial wallet that permits AI agents to execute on-chain transactions within guardrails set by users, as the company advances its strategy around AI-powered trading infrastructure.
The wallet is designed for traders and developers using AI agents to monitor markets and autonomously execute trades. Rather than granting unrestricted access, users can establish spending caps, approve specific protocols, configure risk settings, and choose between "Guard Mode" and "Beast Mode" automation levels.
Agent Wallet supports multiple AI platforms including Claude, Codex, Cursor and others, and works across Hyperliquid and Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible networks. It also includes gas abstraction, allowing users to pay network fees using the asset being transferred instead of holding a chain's native token.
MetaMask emphasizes security by enforcing wallet-level permissions rather than relying on AI agents to act safely independently. Transactions undergo simulation, threat scanning, and MEV protection, with the company offering Transaction Protection coverage of up to $10,000 per month for eligible transactions that suffer losses despite passing security checks.
The public launch follows a June rollout to about 200 early access users. It arrives as crypto firms compete to build infrastructure for AI agents managing portfolios and executing trades. Coinbase introduced its own Agentic Wallets in February, while MoonPay expanded AI agent offerings in March and brought its MoonAgents platform to Telegram in July.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
