Ethereum Postpones Glamsterdam Sepolia Testnet Activation to October 6
Technical issues on test networks have pushed the activation of Ethereum's Glamsterdam upgrade on the Sepolia testnet back by two months.
Ethereum core developers have rescheduled the Glamsterdam upgrade's activation on the Sepolia testnet to October 6, 2026, at 13:53 UTC. The target, established during the All Core Devs Consensus meeting on September 3, represents a two-month delay from the original August 3 target.
The broader timeline for the upgrade has also experienced revisions. Developers originally planned for Glamsterdam to launch on mainnet in the first half of 2026, but delayed that target to the fourth quarter following testing on the Platåberget test network in mid-August. Between late March and early September, developers ran nine devnets to evaluate the protocol changes.
Progress has been hampered by technical obstacles on recent test environments. Devnet-9, launched on September 1 with 1,000 validator nodes, has struggled with block finalization issues. Additionally, an earlier iteration, Devnet-8, uncovered a critical consensus-layer flaw that posed a risk of stopping network operations entirely.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
