Ten-Year US Treasury Yield Touches 5.28 Percent as Bitcoin Moves Independently of Equities
Long-term sovereign yields reached 24-year peaks in early October as Bitcoin held steady around the $84,900 mark.
The yield on ten-year United States Treasury notes settled at 5.28 percent on October 2, 2026, up from 5.24 percent on October 1, according to official Treasury yield curve data. An analysis of daily records from January 2000 to October 2026 shows that prior to late 2026, the ten-year maturity had not closed at or above 5.28 percent since May 15, 2002. The peak for 2026 occurred on September 30 at 5.29 percent.
At the same time, Bitcoin held near $84,900, demonstrating a decoupling from the S&P 500 benchmark. This divergence comes amid broader shifts across the government bond curve, where the market is pricing a notable premium for long-term debt commitments. Across maturities on October 2, two-year notes yielded 4.83 percent, five-year notes 5.06 percent, seven-year notes 5.17 percent, twenty-year bonds 5.67 percent, and thirty-year bonds 5.63 percent.
The yield curve shows a spread of 0.80 percentage points between the two-year and thirty-year maturities. Additionally, the twenty-year yield exceeded that of the thirty-year bond, an inversion typical of differences in liquidity between the two issues at the long end of the sovereign market.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
