Dogecoin Excluded From CME Emerging Index Despite Higher Market Cap Than Chainlink
CME Group and CF Benchmarks left Dogecoin out of their new multi-asset index due to criteria barring memecoins and requiring application activity.
CME Group and CF Benchmarks have launched the CME CF Emerging Crypto Index without Dogecoin, despite the token commanding a market capitalisation of $13.2 billion compared to Chainlink's $9.97 billion. Dogecoin also recorded higher daily turnover at $780 million against Chainlink's $404 million, yet failed to meet index qualification standards.
The benchmark, introduced on August 31, 2026 alongside a broader 12-asset market index, tracks ten tokens excluding Bitcoin and Ethereum: BNB, XRP, Solana, Hyperliquid, Chainlink, Stellar, Sui, Uniswap, Avalanche, and Aave. According to an August study, indicative weightings assign 32.0 percent to BNB, 27.6 percent to XRP, 18.5 percent to Solana, 14.6 percent to Hyperliquid, and the remaining 7.3 percent combined across the other six constituents.
Dogecoin's omission stems from index methodology that explicitly bars memecoins and evaluates the underlying value residing within blockchain applications. In addition, candidates must meet specific institutional custody standards. While single-asset Dogecoin investment vehicles remain unaffected, the exclusion prevents the token from featuring in basket products and derivatives built on the benchmark.
These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
