Major Banks Lower Their 2026 Bitcoin Price Targets

Standard Chartered, Citigroup, and Bernstein have all marked down their price projections for Bitcoin following the asset's pullback from record highs.

Major financial institutions have reduced their Bitcoin price expectations over the course of 2026. Standard Chartered lowered its projection from $150,000 to $100,000 earlier in the year, though its analyst Geoff Kendrick later suggested a retest of prior highs remained possible. Bernstein similarly reduced its year-end forecast from $150,000 to $125,000 by early October, while retaining longer-term targets for 2027.

Citigroup made multiple revisions throughout the year, cutting its initial $143,000 forecast down to $112,000 and eventually to $82,000 in July, before revising the figure back to $113,000 on a 12-month horizon in early October.

With Bitcoin trading around $85,896 on October 6—roughly 32% below its October 2025 record of $126,080—the asset would need to gain between 16% and 46% to reach the institutional year-end and 12-month targets.

These two are not the same thing, and one does not produce the other. The left is how this single article reads, from its tone alone. The right is the site’s own call on the asset, from indicators and analysis. Press tone feeds no score and no signal: on the only corpus this site has measured, daily tone tracked the move that had already happened and showed no measurable link with what followed.
